Nothing there. The aroma was actually kind of pleasant sweet apples, caramel and light summer fruits. The flavor is quite hoppy, but ultimately a bit drab to me. I mean the flavor wasn't terrible, but it just didn't do it for me. To each their own... Sickboy282 (1099), San Diego, California, USA

Amber hue with flavors of spices and malts with that generic belgian flair. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 24, 2002 A beer with some contradictions. Creamy looking pale ale color--it could have passed for a lookalike of an English cream bitter. Yet, a lager-like aroma and a distinctive, more Belgian flavor with some spiciness. Good body. Not brilliant, but interesting. (on tap, Belgo, Kingsway, London) jutuahol (189), Jyväskylä, Finland

Flowery, pretty malty, a bit sweet, notes of yeast and fruits in aroma. Medium body, smooth and balanced, maybe a bit watery texture. Flavor is moderately bitter, sweet, malty, a bit dry, notes of yeast and a bit acidic. Finish is dryer and acidic. Pretty good Belgian ale. Lubiere (4536), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Bolleke at Oude Arsenaal, May 2005. Red amber ale with a thick off white head. Sweet perfumey aroma of rosewater and sweet vanilla. Sweet maple-like sugar, with delicate nuttyness, very floral in mouth, like rose petals. 8-5-8-4-15 Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
