Bottled. Little flavour at first, but has a little more the further down the glass you get, finishing up well. Very average though.[3.0/5]

Bottle. Dark amber beer with a white head that disapears quickly. Somewhat yeasty aroma with a little spice. Thin body that quenches your thirst easily. There’s a spiciness to it and a mildly sweet backing. Nothing special, but it’s enjoyable in it’s well-done simplicity.

Really pretty unremarkable Belgian ale. Some citrus and pepper notes, early maltiness and a nice dry finish, but little to distinguish it.

My least favourite Belgian Ale. It is definitely not as nice as Palm.

Sept, 2002. Pasteurised bottle. This is a strange bastard - lager with a tea bag? Mmmm. Made with pilsner ingredients and then lagered it should be a lager - Vienna style perhaps. But the yeast that Van den Bogaert keeps a secret ferments at a higher temperature than other lagers, thus producing a very unique ale. The triple application of the Saaz hops also adds an extremely fragrant and loooooong finish. It’s a strange beast indeed this ale - the slightly heady and honey sweet nose is in marked contrast to the light and subtle body, and is light years away from that dry and delicious finish. I didn’t like this at first. I was confused about what I was drinking. I had heard that it was only good on draught in Antwerp. I was prepared to sweep it aside. Subsequent tastings, however, have been better. The hops have grown on me. [3.0]

Draft at Old Dominion Beer Festival 2005... Crystal clear, deep amber ale. The nose is slightly flemish, tart and breadsy with light notes of banana and clove. The flavor is fairly uneventful, but perfectly balanced. Generously hopped by Belgian standards. Light to medium-bodied and fizzy. Crisp, clean finish.

I didn’t realise I didn’t rate this beer before. But at last ... here it comes. Clear amber body with an off-white creamy head which is good lacing and mostly lasting. Light bitter initial flavour, and moderately bitter finish. Soft, chalky moutfeel. Watery texture.

Slightly hazy amber w/ large, creamy pale tan head. Sweet, mildly peppery/spicy aroma w/ fruity/citrus & light metallic notes. Light, highly carbonated feel. Flavour is malty, yeasty, spicy, & well-balanced but surprisingly bland for a Belgian Ale.
