Black color, with a creamy tan-colored head, with laces, yeasty, fruity, roasted malt nose, with some dark dried raisins, plums, and a light coffee bean accent, a hint of black chocolate in the aroma follows through a light-bodied palate with a yeasty, roasty, fruity character, with a nice note of black chocolate, and a faint cocoa mochaish flavor, with a leafy flowery hop citrusy, leading towards a roasty, lingering hop bitterness finish.

Bottle @ The Rake, London.
Pours completely black with ruby-red edges. Nice, creamy, beige-brown head. Great chocolate aroma, light yeast and subdued coffee. A bit fizzy and lightly thin mouthfeel. Flavour has good coffee, light chocolate and a long, lingering coffee bitter aftertaste.

Bottle: Poured a light dark color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light bitter roasted malt is somewhat interesting. Taste is also dominated by some light roasted malt and some light hops presence. Good carbonation but body is a bit thin. As previous raters mentioned, this beer seems to be geared toward drinkability and might lack some character.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted bread and coffee roastiness build levelled bitterness in this crisp, dry and very drinkable Belgian Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brown-tinged blackness.
-Carbonation is initially expansive, but a little breathing smooths things out.
-This is competently brewed and solid, but the recipe is not very compelling to me, I guess.
-The body is light and geared towards high drinkability.
-Some minty hops accompany the roasted malts in the finish.

Bottle; best before Feb. ’09.

Brown colour with a beige head. Light roasted and vague coffe bitter aroma with notes of fruit. Coffee bitter flavor with a caramel and dark fruit sweetness.
