Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of charcoal, roasted malt, coffee, bakers cocoa and light vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, charcoal and bitter chocolate with a smooth dry roasty finish.

Small brown diminishing head and a hazy brown body. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and lots of hops. Creamy texture and a bitter finish bite. The taste is medium/heavy bitter and medium sweet.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The color is a bark black with about two and a half fingers of light brown head. The smell is a bit has a strong milky sour chocolate flavor. Is a bit sweet with some dark malt flavor and a small plastic flavor that is giving me a hint that this beer may be hitting it’s shelf life. The taste is a bit off with a bitterness that seems to take over for a bit before releasing to a bit of a chocolate flavor that is enjoyable. Has a bit of a premium dark chocolate flavor and some dryness that does take a bit off the flavor. The feel is a bit light but is also a bit crazy on the palete at the same time. It does leave a little to be desired in the way that there is a nice chocolate feel but dries off to a grape feel and leaves the tongue a bit chapped. It was a pleasant experence but still left a little to be desired.

Sampled on 10/23/2009. This stout pours a medium black color from a 33cl bottle. Small sized white/beige foamy head, which quickly diminishes. The aroma is chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee, touch of vanilla. Hops are earthy. Seems a touch thin tasting, but a decent drinking stout. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours a black color with a light red inside with a nice tan head. Aroma roasted malts, brown sugars and liquorice. Flavors of cocoa and roasted malts, some liquorice, coffee and spices. A creamy, bitter and dry finish. A nice stout, very enjoyable.

I don’t get excited when I hear the words Belgium and Stout in the same sentence. Big brown head on dark liquid. Peppery, chocolate dark malt aroma. Big body. Light chocolate and coffee. Thick and interesting. Definately Belgian in character rather than English or American.

Pours modestly with a small head. Appealing smell, and slow attack but really kicks in with a nice solid but balanced coffee and chocolate aroma. A big beer to be 4.5% vol. Hop is nicely balanced and I would like another one.

Bottle conditioned, 330 ml at Brasserie Verschueren, Brussels. Black with tan head. Big beer for 4.55, there is plenty going on, coffee husk, roastiness, bitter chocolate while still remaining easily drinkable. Good tongue coating body, sipped away in the fuggy atmosphere of a lovely Brussels bar with the buzz of happy drinkers all around, great.
