| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2009 (Bottle) Pours black with a large and creamy brown head. The aroma holds deep roasted and creamy notes up front. Strong tones of espresso, salt liquorice, cocoa powder and 99% chocolate. Complex undertones of dark fruits, tart blackberries, new asphalt/tar/burned wood, burned sugar/brown sugar/muscovado, burned cookies/cookie dough, dust and wet earth. The nose is aggressive yet extremely enjoyable. A whisper of vanilla, nuts and black cherries is also notable. The flavour is light to medium sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic with notes of coffee/espresso, dark chocolate, light smoke, asphalt, liquorice, light dark fruit/dark cherries, liqueur, ash and warming alcohol. I like the roasted malt - there is no super heavy astringency, the tartness is more like tannin-ish fruits. The mouthfeel is round, bit smooth and light oily with a light to medium carbonation. Aftertaste of dark fruits and dark bread. Medium to full bodied. armando629 (1014), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2009 0,33 l bottle, bought in Cracked Cattle, Amsterdam. Superbrutal black body with a superbrutal beige, stable and foamy-creamy head. Complex and powerful aroma of coffee, deep roasted grains, vanilla and chocolate, fine dried fruits like raisins and plum. Some spicey feeling in the nose too with a light cinnamon or/and ginger. Oily body with a character of an espresso coffee with chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon in the flavor too. Sweet because of high percentage alcohol what warms me up. Fine belgian-dutch yeast character in deep roasted aftertaste. Delicious and fine, the beer numbs my tongue, after a while my brain... Oakes (8142), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Thanks Patrik! Pretty close to black. The aroma is a mild but complex espresso showing cookie dough and vague nuttiness. Somewhat fizzy, which cuts through the rich chocolate. There’s nutty accents first then some espresso. The finish is a bit fizzy. Hints of alcoholic warmth coat the tongue as well. Another one that is interesting but not entirely cohesive.
