Commercial Description:
Struise/Molen. Dark color, thick creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, hint of brown sugar, some dry fruit. Great mouthfeel, creamy. Again coffee and chocolate in the taste, slightly alcoholic, but in a good way. I like to have this for breakfast every day! Like Urbain said with a dark twist of the mind, not for pussies.

Bottle 33 cl. Completely opaque black with a dense and creamy light brown head. Distinct aroma of burned malt and vanilla. Very full-bodied, hard roasted malt and sweetish dried fruit and vanilla. Alcoholic finish. 160509

Bottled at Belgobaren, Stockholm. Very black, small beige head. Sweet and roasty. Ashy and a bit fruity with notes of asphalt. Full bodied wit chocolate and brandy. Intense, but staying short of becoming inky. Everything fits together fine, but this concept of über-imperial Belgian stout does not really do it for me.

From tap. Pours pitch black and with a small tan head. Dense malty and hardroasted maty with a solid dark chocolate aroma. Smooth chocolate malty and light smoked flavoured with a light bitterness from hops and roasted acidic malty. Subdued alcohol presence, surprisingly as there is 12% of it - but I guess the yeasty fruity flavours, dense malt and some sweetness really takes the alcohol burn out. Dense roasted maty flavoured. Light fruity touch into the far finish. Fantastic!

Draught @ pré-ZBF 09 @ Alvinne: Alvinne-Struise beerfest.
Clear dark black color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate, fruity, smoke - peat. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - sticky, carbonation is soft. Very delicious and well balanced ;o)) [20090306]

Draught at Alvinne pre-ZBF09. Good roasted aroma, some yeast. Black colour. Small frothy but OK stable brown head. Very flavourful, starts off vinous, then turns roasted with plenty of sweet liquorice. The finish is quite yeasty as well. On the sweet side, but nice.

Bottled (from Ölkonsortiet). Close to pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is liquorice, roasted malts, alcohol and some caramel. Flavour is roasted malts, alcohol, sweet rye and lots of toasted notes. Also dark dry fruits. Complex and very pleasant to drink

Draught at PreZBF at Alvinne. Pitch black coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma of liquorice, dried fruits and chocolate with notes of cocoa powder. Roasted and hoppy flavour of chocolate, liquorice and dried fruits with notes of alcohol. Roasted and warming alcoholic finish. Very delicious and well balanced.

Thanks Patrik! Pretty close to black. The aroma is a mild but complex espresso showing cookie dough and vague nuttiness. Somewhat fizzy, which cuts through the rich chocolate. There’s nutty accents first then some espresso. The finish is a bit fizzy. Hints of alcoholic warmth coat the tongue as well. Another one that is interesting but not entirely cohesive.
