Bottled at Monks café, Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pours out in a hazy ruby brown colour with a small frothy off-white head. Chocolate chips, roasted malts, coffee and mild floral and peppery hops. Medium-bodied with notes of whipped chocolate cream, nuts, toasted grains and grass. Medium bitter and lightly yeasty finish of roasted malts, milky chocolate, minerals and grass.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s pre NYE tasting. Dark cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Gorgeous fruity aroma with some good earthy notes and some lovely creamy alcohol. Typical De Molen flavour. Great chocolate notes with a massive hit of excellent hoppy bitterness. Slight soap hints from the alcohol but it’s really not a bad thing. Straight forward but incredibly enjoyable. De Molen can do nothing wrong for me. Hats off to Menno.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa, roasted grain/nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a light note of chalk. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy/lively carbonation. Quite simple, sadly. Mouthfeel and aroma are both very disappointing...fizzy, watery, and almost nothing interesting to speak of in the nose. Ok flavor balance.

Bottle. Pours black with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (toasted grain, straw, meal), light hops (flowers), average yeast (leather) with notes of plastic. Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness.

Bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. Cloudy dark brown, thin beige head. Really good porter. Really good beer, nice chocolate flavours and another stunning beer from this really great brewery.

Off menu recommendation from Greg at Birreria Paradiso. Easily the best beer of the night. Bottle 490 of 708. 5.8%. Dark ruby red, toffee aroma, light tan head that lasts forever, full mouth with flavors of burnt caramel, and a VERY late finish of espresso. Very complex. Classic English style porter.
