Gorgeous fruity aroma with some good earthy notes and some lovely creamy alcohol. Typical De Molen flavour. Great chocolate notes with a massive hit of excellent hoppy bitterness. Slight soap hints from the alcohol but it’s really not a bad thing. Straight forward but incredibly enjoyable. De Molen can do nothing wrong for me. Hats off to Menno. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa, roasted grain/nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a light note of chalk.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, fizzy/lively carbonation.
Quite simple, sadly. Mouthfeel and aroma are both very disappointing...fizzy, watery, and almost nothing interesting to speak of in the nose. Ok flavor balance. BeerandBlues2 (3225), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Bottle 490 of 708. 5.8%. Dark ruby red, toffee aroma, light tan head that lasts forever, full mouth with flavors of burnt caramel, and a VERY late finish of espresso. Very complex. Classic English style porter.
