The aroma has notes of roasted malt, light coffee and licorice. The flavour has sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, licorice and light sweet coffee and it ends rather dry. Pours a clear, dark cola-brown color; light tan head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Full, chocolatey nose: nougat, lively citrus, and doughy malts; pretty nice aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: cola, nuttiness, and dried fruits; very crisp, lively, and drinkable; really nice rendition; robust and solidly bitter. Lengthy finish: cola, chocolate, and toasty maltiness. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2008 This bottled brew from West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago had a corked marked 2007. It poured a very large sized head of mostly diminishing tan colored finely sized bubbles that left behind a transparent dark red brown softly colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was nice with chocolate malty notes. The mouth feel was mild at the start with a slightly stronger dark malty finish. The flavor was smooth and on the thin carbonated side with mild chocolate and brown malts.
