| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 10, 2009 In short: An overly dirty earthy dark yeasty ale of some kind
How: Bottle 750ml. corked and caged. Consumed when about one year of aged (bottling date 1 oct 2008). Shared at a dinner
The look: Dark brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: First my bottle was a gusher, beware. Nose and taste are amazingly dirty. This is very earthy, forest floor, very grainy malts, roasted nuts, dry dirty wood, spicy. Not fruity flavour, coffee, chocolate or anything. This is all about a big pile of dirty malts. Very yeasty. Doesn’t taste like any modern porter I drink. Drinkable in strange way. Ah, 1914, the World War I era, the good old days when everybody hated everybody instead of everybody hating America.
