Pour is brownish black with a thin tan head and lots of sediment...smell is roasty and sweet with cocoa, grapes, plums...taste is sweet and chocolatey up front with a nice earthy fruity sweetness underneath...hints of alcohol in the roasty sweet finish...good!

750mL bottle, courtesy of wickedpete. Thanks, Pete! Black, light tan creamy head. Black chocolate and coffee nose warms to notes of dark fruits and touches of vanilla liqueur. Flavor is a core of ashy chocolate and coffee tones that expand to soft sweet vanilla plum and black currant note. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Nice imperial, but not in the world-class range…

(Bottled 75cl). Courtesy of bierkoning, thanks Edo! Handwritten label. Pitch black color, steady beige head. Coffeish, tobacco, chocolate aroma. Flavor has tobacco, cold coffee and some alcohol in the finish. A bit too much color malts.

Bottled. Murky reddish brown colour, small beigeish brown foamy head. Aroma is cardboard, some sweet malts, mild chocolate and coffee along with some wooden hops. Flavour is quite much the same. A bit out of balance for the flavours.

Bottle… Post RBSG ’08 O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Chapter 8… Murky, prune-colored ale with a mid-sized, creamy, taupe head. Lengthy, donut-like retention. Malty, plush aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, cashews and pistachios. Medium to full-bodied with lazy carbonation. Sweet, chocolaty and deeply roasted flavors are nicely leveled by modest bitterness. Sweet, roasted nut finish.

Bottle #319/696. $16. The beer pours to a really dark brown/mahogany body with a nice foamy brown head. The aroma is sweet oatmeal stoutish with lots of roasted walnuts. Almost like a brown ale. The beer has some nice complexities going on. The flavor is deeply roasted but not bitter like I’d expect. Sweet brown malts, barley, oatmeal, lots of walnuts, filberts, Brazil nuts. Sweet with some light coffee bitterness. Very complex flavors. The palate is medium-full bodied with that oatmeal texture. The hops balance out the beer nicely. Sweet and mouthwatering. A nice beer with subtle chocolate.

bottle 319 of 696 Deep burgandy to brown color with a full light tan head and some great lacing. My first thought was an oatmeal stout from the aroma as there are hints of oats in the aroma then a bit of a brown ale aroma comes through some definate roasty notes touches of caramel a bit nutty then some chocolate. Nice palate not as big as I would have expected, to thin for the style. Flavor is light chocolates lots of coffees very well roasted coffee dark black coffee touches of that coffee bitterness. A bit plain and over coffee fied like a coffied brown ale w/ a bit of a dry light hop finish. Good but not great.
