Pour is brownish black with a thin tan head and lots of sediment...smell is roasty and sweet with cocoa, grapes, plums...taste is sweet and chocolatey up front with a nice earthy fruity sweetness underneath...hints of alcohol in the roasty sweet finish...good!

Sampled at the ORF tasting. Thanks to whoever brought it! Aroma of chocolate, currants, hops. Taste was heavier on the hops than expected. Not quite as full bodied as I was hoping

Pours a deep blackish brown with a good head and lace. The aroma has raw chocolate, some alcohol and some fresh hops with light fruit and currant notes. The flavor is very toasty and has some burnt flavors but features lots and lots of bitter fruity and herbal hops. There is also a bunch of chocolate in here as well. This stuff is pretty gosh darned delicious.

Brewed in the Netherlands !!! Bottle # 261 Pours dark brown in color kind of like a root beer with a very small off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, wood, raisins and lite smoke. Taste of chocolate, vanilla beans, malts and spices. Mouthfeel is thin in body and has a malty finish. With an original recipe from 1914, this brew is much different from the Imperials we have today.

Sampled on 11/13/2009. Bottle #146 of 510. This imperial stout pours a eclipse black color form a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate and roasty malt. The hops are earthy. Nice stout, nice balance between the roasty malts and sweetness. Hides the alcohol very well. A touch tart/sour at the finish. Nice carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

Bottle shared by BeerGestapo. Thanks Mike. Poured hazy brown with a large tan head. Smelled of coffee, cocoa powder, raisin, and cola. The flavor was loaded with various incarnations of chocolate along with some perfuminess, plum, and raisin. The body seemed quite thin for being 10% abv and was a bit overcarbonated as well. Unlike any other big stout that I have had. It tasted more like an English brown ale with a touch of Belgium to it. Can’t say it was boring though.

750 ml bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, Minnesota. Brewed on 25 March 2008, bottled on 09 May 2008. Bottle number 383. This was part of a dinner where it was paired with cinnamon chocolate cake and rum ice cream. Pour is a muddled black with a tan one inch head. Very noisy pour, head falls with loud crackling (that’s right, I listen to my beer). Aroma has soft roast, mild cocoa notes, and a mineral earthy woodiness. A very "porterish" nose by my modern standards. Taste is the nose, with roast, cocoa, earthy woodiness in equal measure. Very soft and gentle beer. Palate has the soft mineral body, medium to full without being heavy. This seemed a lot lighter ABV than 9.99%. Really interesting project, and tasty. Thanks Ron for doing these beers, they were both a lot of fun.

Thanks to Jeramiah for sharing at Blue Palms This was a tasty stout. Nice and roasty & smokey, but surprisingly light on the palate, and that was good.
