MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jul 6, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts After Tasting. Thanks to Jbrus for bringing this, I’ve wanted to try this for sometime. Semi hazy dark amber with a thin white head. Superb Amarillo all round. Just the right amount of sugary sweetness. The obvious lashings of citrus that you would expect from an Amarillo brew along with a really pleasant base of caramel maltiness. More excellence from De Molen. How many times have I said that in the last few years? Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 7, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Hazy amber golden with tiny floating impurities and a creamy off-white head leaving some lacework. Very fresh and citrusy nose. Quite full-bodied, lots of fruit, a little yeast and a citrusy hoppy finish with only a subdued bitterness. 140509 yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway May 31, 2009 Bottle, from trade with jbrus. It pours a hazy, orange-golden body under a finger-thick, beige head. Citrusy hops, resins, green pinecones, some caramel-sweetness and a flowery touch in the aroma. The flavor is on the hoppy side too, with citrus and resin, and an almost sugary malty sweetness in the back. Full-bodied, and almost astringently bitter. Lovely sweet and resiny, bitter finish. It’s a pity this one is retired, it was a really nice blend of sweetness and bitterness. (090514) Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 18, 2009 Bottled. An unclear amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops, and medium notes of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of mlat, caramel, hops, and over ripe fruits. The body is thick. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 15, 2009 Hazy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma had loads of hops, pine and grapefruit and lemons. Flavour very hoppy with malt, caramel, pine and grapefruit notes. Finished dry and bitter. Hop juice. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Feb 19, 2009 Amber body with big head. Hoppy and fruity nose. Taste of more hops, and a bit bitter. Fruits as well. Alcohol well-hidden. Enjoyable. Another excellent De Molen beer. Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Feb 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to jbrus. Hazy with healthy head. Oxidation present. Smells metallic and sweet, sharp and acidic with some bread crust and citrus making appearances. Smooth, low carbonation. Nice and would have been lovely fresh, I can tell. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 1, 2009 Fresh, perfumey, citrusy nose. Lots of bright amarillo notes, but some pale malt heft and more yeastiness as it goes.
