Beer at De Molen #24 The aroma is vinoes with a clear smoky profile. On top of that there is some apples, aspargus and white wine and maybe some wood. The taste is pretty low key. Its malty with both smoke and some hops - the hoppy and malty tastes also dominates the finish. The palate is pretty watery.

Wooden cask at GBBF 2009, 4th Aug 09. Black with no head. Intense aroma of alcohol, sour apples and boot polish. Flavours of dark toffee and stewed fruits. Leaves your head spinning. Slightly oily, smooth palate.

Very dark, almost coffee, thick pour,with brownish cappuccino like foam. Smell of port/whiskey/cognac, cherries, very smokey. Rich smoke taste, somewhat chemical (reminds of hospital/ dentist). Long aftertaste, malt, some herbs and spices, very complex.

Bottle 33 cl from Bert’s bierhuis. Pours black with a minimal tan head. Aroma of dark malts and smoke. Almost whisky like. Also the taste consists of wood together with a nice sweetness. Very nice beer!

bottle from bierkoning. pours a dark beer with a creamy brown head. Good aroma with hints of coffee. Coudn’t stop sniffing it. Taste is also very, very good. Very bitter taste with sweet notes. Smoked mouthfeel. Aftertaste is also bitter. Would love to try this one again!

From the wood at GBBF: Near black with a beige head that forms drifts at the edge of the glass. Lovely swirls and patterns in the head too. To the nose it is smoky with plenty of iodine in there too. It seems so creamy with hints of vanilla as if it were whisky-barrell-aged. I comes across as a little heavy on the nose. It is heady once it hits the tongue however with huge whisky-like flavours. Smoky, woody, heavy but delicious. Smooth and sleek. Exciting end of evening stuff.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with a minimal tan head. Aroma of dark malt, spices and smoke. Taste is light sweet,, roasted , there are some nice light smoked wood here, oily mouthfeel. Long and bitter finish, also some warm alcohol

Lovely beer. Aroma is smoked malts, roasted chestnuts, orange zest, coffee and dark chocolate all at once. Kinda like a German smoke beer meets a dark coffee chocoloate orange! Wow. Taste is smooth; mouth feel medium to full, good hop mesasue, intence on roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Also some special ingredient in there but can’t think what. Really lovely. My cork shot out at at 100mph so please be careful whilst opening. Really special beer. Thank you De Molen. Thank you Cracked Kettle. WOW. PS. Very heart waming. So 0.2 extra for that.
