Pours out in a deep dark reddish brown colour with a low firm beige foam. Deep peaty aroma of smoke, salty licorice, toasted malts, roasted almonds and dried figs. Medium to full-bodied with notes of licorice, roasted nuts, burnt caramel, smoke and dried figs. Long solid malty finish of peat, tar and roasted almonds. Has a roasted malty smoky aroma with hints of dark fruit and licorice. Roasted malty smoky caramel and licorice flavor with some hints of dark fruit. Has a roasted malty caramel and licorice finish with a smoky aftertaste. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Oct 24, 2009 Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Dark brown color. Smoky, tarry and leathery aroma with dark fruits, heather and hint of plastic. Sweet tarry, earthy and smoky flavor with peat and heather. Slightly too peaty but the balance is still fairly good. Pitch black, steady beige head. Very woody, a bit smokey, roasted malty aroma. Smokey, a bit sweet, licorice and oak. Aroma is liquorice, mild peat, quite leathery as well as mild dark fruity notes. Flavour is caramel malts, wood, some roasted malts, ashy as well as peaty. Ashy aftertaste. Wellbalanced and pleasant. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 4, 2009 (Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2009) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, peat smoke, wood and a touch of Islay whisky. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, peat, cocoa, ashes and Islay whisky. More than medium body, fairly sweet.
