Commercial Description:
Bloed, Zweet & Tranen, brewed by accident with malt from the Bruichladdich distillery, instead of the usual peated malt. Single batch only. NOTE: Beware, the bottle does not indicate whether it’s the regular BZT or the Bruichladdich. So the only way to know this is if the one who bought it was told it’s the Bruichladdich.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2009) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, peat smoke, wood and a touch of Islay whisky. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, peat, cocoa, ashes and Islay whisky. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Finish is a bit short, but the beer is very tasty and nice.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Black, creamy head. Peaty whisky aroma. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Sugar mixed with Highland whisky. Some coffee, but most gets lost amongst whisky and sugar. Warming and filling, but in the end more inteesting than good.

Bottle. Pours a wonderful dark brown with a large, frothy, off-white head. Lovely smokey and peity aroma, some caramel, light dark chocolate. Highish carbonation, lovely mouthfeel. Flavour is extremely peity, lovely dry dark chocolate, a touch of flowery hops. Long, lingering smoky aftertaste. Lovely

Bottle, thanks to Jan & Charlotte! Dark brown with reddish tint similar in color to Schlenkerla, has a brown head but not much lacing. Aroma is a rich smoke and tang. Actually has an odd sour tang in aromas and flavors that might not be supposed to be there and yet is inoffensive. Covers many different flavor corners. Metallic and bloody, an interesting combination of flavors. Actually the sour becomes pretty well-integrated and lingers. Sour and smoke in the same glass is very interesting, and I came to like it.

Thanks to fonefan and charlotte for this bottle! Dark brown. Rich impy aroma, more chewy stinging malts, dense chocolates and a some smoke and darker fruits. Somewhat thin and tart in the body, though with light roast and fruits, maybe a hint of smoke. Roasty and light smoke finish amid lots of tartness. This beer should have more staying power, but appears on the way out due to tartness.

Cask @GBBF ’09. Strong smell of peaty whisky butt. Taste the same, with a decent enough dark ale just peeking out from below. Oddly weak tasting for 8.7 %.
