Commercial Description:
Bloed, Zweet & Tranen, brewed by accident with malt from the Bruichladdich distillery, instead of the usual peated malt. Single batch only. NOTE: Beware, the bottle does not indicate whether it’s the regular BZT or the Bruichladdich. So the only way to know this is if the one who bought it was told it’s the Bruichladdich.

Bottled 75cl. Courtesy of bierkoning. Appearance: It pours a dark brown beer with a tall creamy nicely remaining beige head which leaves a beautiful lace. Aroma: Very strong, peaty, smoky, complex, leathery with hints of tar, vanilla, apricot, peaches, milk chocolate and cassis. Flavor and palate: Leathery, nicely peaty with hints of cassis and vanilla. Faintly salty. Low carbonation. Complex. More cassis showing up on the swallow. The finish is close to the one of a great single malt with hints of heather, apricot and dark chocolate. Overall impression: Absolutely fantastic! Definetely one of the best beers I have ever had. The sediment is excellent too. Thanks a lot bierkoning!

Dark brown, reddisch colored brew. Very nice smoked aroma, keeps you sniffin’. Flavor is a bit smoked, peat, malty sweetsness. Aftertaste is whiskey malts. Dry and with a sticky palate. Very nice round bitterness combined with the whiskey malty flavor. I think it’s a wonderfull beer, complex and full of flavors.

Botella. Deep dark brown colour. Smoky whisky malty aroma. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is dry with a good smokiness, nice whisky, soft bitter sweetness and a long lasting smoky finish. Nice!

Draught @ Brouwerij de Molen, Overtocht 43, Bodegraven, 2411 BT Netherlands.
Unclear medium to dark brown color with a large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, burnt, caramel, smoked. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, and a dry dry finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. This how a smoked beer has to be prepared, well done Menno ;o)) [20090226]

bottle at the Pre-ZBF pours dark brown/black with a dark tan head. Much more of a smokey/peated aroma compared to the regular version. Great sweet dark malt meets heavy smoke finish. A top notch stout.

A Mes rate: bottle at Pre ZBF.
Hazy dark brown with an impressive beige head and a good amount of lacing. Wow, this is another cracker from Menno. Superb malty blend of slight sweetness, burnt toast, caramel and charcoal. Such awesome peaty character from the malt. Almost thick and tarry in the mouth with some faint iodine and band aid. Hint of leather in the finish that is instantly punished with great hit of bitterness. Eventual smoky aftertaste rounds it off really well. Excellent.
