Commercial Description:
There’s plenty of fruit like orange, tangerine and sweet apples. It’s powerful and full bodied but still easy going. Although the name would suggest otherwise, it’s our favourite amongst the female clientele yet also highly appreciated by the other sex. Well hopped as always, but the obvious alcohol and the massive malt and fruit character restrict the hops to the background, only to reveal itself in the finish. Full bodied, notes of champagne. Champagne mousse after pouring in the glass. Grapes and a hint of mandarin curacao in the aroma, together with a hint of vin mousseux. Malty sweet flavor, immensely full bodied, with mandarine curacao and vinous notes. Thick mouthfeel, just a touch of yeast in the aftertaste. Huge beer.

Bottle. Deep reddish brown body with a tiny head. Sweet malty aroma with notes of prune, raisin and barley malt. Flavour is very fruity to the dark dry side with barley notes as well as sugar and alcohol. Medium bodied. Must be great at a cold winter night.

Bottle. [Beer festival 2009] Average white bubbly head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Somewhat clear amber color. Aroma of bread, nutty, fruity, very sweet grainy, hint of yeast and thick almost syrupy like texture. Quite full bodied with a soft carbonation and light alcoholic texture as well. Heavy sweet flavor with some counter bitterness. Lingering sweet nutty and malty finish.

Tasted many times at pre-ZBF 2009 at Alvinne. What a beer... most people at the fest didn’t quite know what to think of it but I sure did. The ultimate fireplace and cigar sipper. This is as complex and satisfying as any dessert wine or cognac, blows Thomas Hardy’s out of the water (no backlash please). I can absolutely not believe I didn’t take any bottles home with me after opening and serving probably more than two cases worth to guests!
