Commercial Description:
There’s plenty of fruit like orange, tangerine and sweet apples. It’s powerful and full bodied but still easy going. Although the name would suggest otherwise, it’s our favourite amongst the female clientele yet also highly appreciated by the other sex. Well hopped as always, but the obvious alcohol and the massive malt and fruit character restrict the hops to the background, only to reveal itself in the finish. Full bodied, notes of champagne. Champagne mousse after pouring in the glass. Grapes and a hint of mandarin curacao in the aroma, together with a hint of vin mousseux. Malty sweet flavor, immensely full bodied, with mandarine curacao and vinous notes. Thick mouthfeel, just a touch of yeast in the aftertaste. Huge beer.

Bottle. Look: Strange red-orange (pinkish). Smell: Complex aroma! Soy, hops, bourboun, honey, spices... etc. Taste: Very special and complex taste! Vegtables, butter, sweetness like childrens medicine. Overall: Full bodied. Thick. Interesting beer even if I personally didn’t like the taste that much.

Bottle at alvinne, well a few samples from a bottle. Alround rating: Mead like body with a huge syrupy mouthfeel, like noe 30yr old sherry, great legs on the glass. Its massivly sweet yes, but something balancing it, the alcohol is really well hidden and generally speaking i was really impressed by this bad boy.

Bottle at Pre ZBF, Alvinne, 06-03-09 Pours a murky amber colour and with no head. The nose was pure confectionary shop with some syrup poured on to for good measure. This taste good but as the nose had suggested it was a little sweet for me at times and even a little cloyingly so on occasion. Really sticky and oily in the mouth and glass, plenty of alcohol though this doesn’t dominate proceedings, despite my criticisms, I quite enjoyed it. A7 A4 F7 P4 OV14 3.6

Tasted from bottle, 75 cl. with Bianca, Thierry, William, ... @ Bredene end of nov. ’08. Bit hazy orange color with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma yeasty, fruity, alcohol, barley wine. Medium body. Heavy taste sweet, full bitter with a long duration. Good.

Bottle. Thick looking sweet monster of a barleywine. Fruity nectarlike with a extreme sweetness and well-hidden alcohol. Great dessert beer with plenty of character.

Bier Koning. Dark red body with no foam. Sweet and syrupy nose. Taste of sugar, oranges and medicinal in feel. Very sticky and syrupy. The high ABV gives it a sizeable kick. I understand this is a good barley wine but not for me at all.

Bottled. Pours out in a cloudy orange colour with a small disappearing white foam. Dense and malty sweet aroma of orange-liquor, yeast, spices, crackers and alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of sweet oranges, brown sugar, alcohol and almonds. Smooth mouthfeel. Long warming finish of alcohol and orange-liquor. Rather young and sweet, my other bottle will probably rest in the cellar for a decade or so.
