Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Aug 4, 2009 33cl Bottle. 2006 VINTAGE. Trade with thewolf. Pours deep amber with a reddish hew and a small creamy stable white head. Nose is deep, vinous, complex and really wonderful. It has lots of dark fruits such as prunes and figs, and also some sherry and port notes. Sweet, deep and really lovely. Smooth, vaguely sticky and full bodied. Taste is a mix of liquorice, port and dark fruits. Amazing. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. [thank you, Skortila!] Pours a nutty redish brown with a smallish beige head. Lots of bubbles reaching towards it at the sides of my snifter glass. Aroma is yeasty with chocolate, some plums and light fruitiness. The head stays for a very long time and looks more and more creamy. Creamy and very full mouthfeel - almost stout-ish. Flavour is very much chocolaty sweet with some roasted bitterness in the finish. There is perhaps a too apparent yeast note, but not too much to detract from the fact that this is one great beer. NoiZe (1288), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Jul 8, 2007 Dark brown colored brew. Nice yeasty, malty, sweet flavor. Sweet and roasted bitterness. Nice one. Bottle at my ’Local’. Malty with some notes of liquorice. Sweet and fairly dull. Couldn’t finish it. Ok I could have done but I just didn’t want to. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Apr 14, 2007 Bottled. Licorice, roasted malts and grass aroma. Brown color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, pretty bitter, roasted, grassy. Sparkling and full with a soft finish. A Bock with an English accent. Nice. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Jan 16, 2007 Dark brown colored, little light brown head. Spices, yeast, sweetness, toffee, brown sugar with syrup and mild licorice in complex aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is drier with chocolate and spicy toffee, bitter and mildly hopped aftertaste with some yeast and toffee also. Reminds me of some T’Ij products. oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Jan 15, 2007 Bottled. Hazy brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is a lot of spices, slight yeast and caramel. Flavour is caramel malts, lots of yeast, some spices and grassyness. KnutAlbert (3108), Oslo, Norway Dec 18, 2006 Bottle from the Bierkoning shop.
Sweet and sour, sherry-like warming feeling. This beer packs quite a punch, despite ralatively low alcohol content. Prunes, smoked malt, full flavour as I sip. I would have liked this with cheese or smoked meat.
