bierkoning (4611), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 26, 2007 Updated: Nov 13, 2007Brewery tap. Dark brown color. Light caramelaroma. Rather dry, earthy hoppy flavor with licorice and laurel. Roasted malt. Long licorice and roast aftertaste. Liked it better as the bocks in 2005 and 2006. Unconventional, but well brewed Dutch bock.
75 cl corked bottle, 6,2%. Malt, licorice and cardemom in the aroma. malty sweetish flavor with pepper, licorice and cardemom. Hint of chocolate in the aftertaste. Well balanced beer, way off the beaten track for bocks. jbrus (4046), Delft, Netherlands Oct 21, 2007 Bottle@Home. Aroma is not very strong but nice with chocolate and black berries. Dark brown color, light brown head, good lace. Very falvorful in contrast to the aroma. Loads of roasted chocolate and pretty bitter. Also hints of licorice and black currant in there. Full mouthfeel. As a beer nice but as a Dutch Bock excellent. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. [thank you Skortila/Caesar]
Pours deep, red mahogany with a medium, frothy, off-white head. Quite fizzy and it disappears quickly. Aroma is lightly roasted, good dried fruits, and a great chocolate note. Medium to low carbonation, great, light mouthfeel. Flavour is wonderfully balanced, very drinkable, good chocolate, some slight coffee, light raisins and a weak roasted tones. Great bock.
