A Mes rate: bottle at Twickenham beer festival.
The first thing I did at ’Twickers’ was go straight to the foreign bar and buy as much as I could afford of the De Molen H&V to take home and then I grabbed a bottle of this to start me off. This is a cracking bock. Cloudy red brown with an impressive off white head. Full of dusty fruit and dark chocolate. Brimming with warmth and chewyness. A glorious delicate sweetness from the fruity alcohol gives it plenty of guts. The eventual dryness on the palate keeps me throwing it back. I could get drunk on this pretty quickly without even trying. An excellent sweet chocolate finish with just the right amount of bitterness from the quality hoppage rounds it off really well. More lovely beer from Menno.

Very hazy amber body, small beige head; Very malt deep complex nose with chocolate malt aromas sticking out and bringing lots of character; Soft textured quite sweet deep body, bitter mostly from malt; Long good finish with a bitter bite, malt sweet and chocolate aromas. Great!

Flaske: Brunlig mudret øl med et fint skumhoved. Svag duft af frugt. Kraftig smag af karamel, en smule kaffe og en smule røg. Bitter finish. Faktisk en rigtig lækker øl, der langsomt vinder på dig.

A hazy red/brown colored beer, with a nice beige head. The aroma of roasted malts, with dark caramel, hops and dark fruits. The taste of a little roasted malt, bitter of coffee, some chocolate, hops and prunes. The aftertaste of bitter chocolate. When the beer gets warmer the taste of roasted takes away.

(Draught@Brewery) Dark reddish brown with a medium head. Pleasant aroma of coffee, cocoa, and dark chocolate. Very roasted-malty, slightly burned flavor with coffee, licorice, some caramel and hop bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation. An enjoyable and balanced, maybe slightly too burned bock. I wonder if this is the regular bock renamed - but on the other hand, it was much more roasty and burned than the one at EBF.

(Draught) Very hazy chocolate brown with a medium, firm head. Toffee-caramely-malty aroma, somewhat unclean, a bit sewery. Smoothly malty, toffeeish, lightly roasty flavor with coffee notes. Medium to full body, very soft carbonation. The aroma was not very tempting, but flavor and overall smoothness saved it. A very nice bock.
