JanPrimus1982 (48), Delft, Netherlands Sep 22, 2005 Excellent beer at all sights! Wonderful appearance, nice aroma and not a disappointing flavor. Strong yeasty taste, nice head and dark colored body. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Aug 10, 2005 red/brown beer with biege head. aroma is yeasty, caramel, and a bit roasted malt.
taste:: bitter, licorice, chocolat, caramel, resin and coffee also a bit salty. rather dry finish. soft palate. nice one. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Jun 14, 2005 Bottle. Slightyl caramelly, with some chocolate and coffee. Sweet to start, slightly sugary, with some yeasty dryness in the finish, quite a smooth mouthfeel however. chriso (4667), London, Greater London, England Jun 12, 2005 Colour is dark red/brown. Didn’t pick up much on the aroma other than a bit of cereally malt and maybe a touch of toffee. Treacle and licorice in the flavour with some sticky, resinous hop character. Sweetish. Pleasant enough, but not really my thing. Bottled at Catford Beer Festival 2005.
Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark Apr 28, 2005 Bottle. Dark red-brown with a beige head that reminds me of a fermenting beer! Full bodied, chewy, spice, liqourice, medicinal, perhaps a little one-dimensional but quite nice imo. Thanks Jbrus. bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 1, 2005 Nutmeg and licorice aroma. Sweet flavor with salmiac, licorice, laurel and some hopbitterness, hidden behind the spicy character. Tastes OK, but IMO lacks balance. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Mar 31, 2005 Nice aroma, nutty, vanilla, yeast and dough. Brown color, light brown heaf, good lace. Light sweet, bitter, strong licorice, roasted malts, bit herbal. Medium body and the roast is burning in your throat, very well balanced. Technically very good beer but I’m afraid I’m not into the licorice very much.
