Draught @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, coffee, light to moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft. (220208)

Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a reddish hue. Looks clear, but I’m not sure. The head is big, tan and foamy, and nice lacings are left. The aroma is sugary and chocolatey with alcohol, dried fruits, roasted malt and a little perfumy touch. Sweet chocolate, some alcohol, lots of prunes and raisins and some roasted malt in the flavor, before the bitterness comes stronger towards the end and gets very pleasant. Warming, full-bodied mouthfeel. There’s too much alcohol evident I think, but maybe it’s just because it’s the first beer today? (080126)

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an amberish black with a small yellowish head and an aroma of chocolat, caramel, roasted malts and brown sugar. The flavor is really good, espresso, smoked salmon, caramel, dark chocolate and hoppyness. Long bitter aftertaste makes this a really good stout

Bottled (THT 26/10/2007)
Courtesy of bierkoning. Dark ruby red color, big creamy beige head, some lace. Toasted malty, ashy aroma with hints of sourness. Dry, ashy, tobacco flavor with roasted maltyness. Some sourness also in the flavor. Late bitterness and tiny amounts of sweetness. Reasonably drinkable stout, but ashyness and light sourness are a bit odd. (6/5/6/3/13 3.3). Re-rated, bottle (THT 03/02/2009). Dark ruby-brown color, huge tan head. Toasted aroma with hints of smoke. Chocolaty, caramel malty with hints of ash. Licorice too. Not sourness as I had in the first bottle. Much better now than in the first time. (7/4/7/4/15 3.7)

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila!]
Pours a deep, deep nutty brown with a big beige creamy head on top - very nice looks, I must say! Aroma has caramel sweetness on top of a light roasted malts with a little chocolate through in for good measure. Relatively creamy mouthfeel, rather low carbonation. Flavour is sweet caramel at first before a heavy roastedness takes over. Long, lingering dry, bitter aftertaste. This is a sweetish stout, but a very good one. Stays in my cheeks for quite some time.

Tap from the Mill: Almost black in color with a small light brown head. Notes of caramel. Full bodied with a roasty, malty taste. Alcohol well hidden. A Very interesting Stout.

Bottle, 7.7%, Fruity aroma, a little sour rag. Almost black colour, with a dark brown shine. Big and quite stable grey/brown head. The flavour is roasted with some liquorice and some of the cardboard I often get in hombrewed and microbrewed stouts. Unpleasant cardboard and yeast notes. Late roast malt bitterness, quite peppery and rough. There is also some sourness in here that is fortunately hidden by other flavours. Thick mouthfeel. Flavourful, but not really my cup of stout.
