(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Clear, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Fat aroma of caramel, overripe fruit and alcohol. Very full-bodied with sweetish, overripe fruit and burned caramel. Warming alcoholic finish. Very nice indeed. 290308

(Rating #1626)

Amber body, beige head; Very pleasant caramel malty nutty nose, very balanced; Full soft a little sweet and to fat body; Slightly fruity in finish a little to fat, sweet, pleasant late aromas.

My Bottom Line:
Fruity yeast and caramel maltiness pervade this able-bodied Belgian-style Strong Ale until an earthy, herbal hop bitterness seals each sip.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy brownish copper.
-The fruitiness is sometimes redolent of prune juice and raisins.
-The caramel sweetness is accompanied by a smidge of licorice.
-Alcohol is warming yet does not bother the flavor profile at all.
-Our bottle was well-carbonated, yet the Tsarina Esra wasn’t. I starting to wonder...might they have capping issues?

Bottle; thx Marc et Éric!

bottle sampled at wlv this past weekend..... poured a reddish amber brown with very little head.... aroma of sweet candied sugary malt w/ dark fruit.... flavors of sweet candied sugar and had virtually no carbonation.... i’m not sure if the lack of carbonation is universal to this beer or just the sample that we had tried.

Hazy brown with medium beige head. Sweet vinious aroma with roasted malt, ripe fruits and alcohol notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, overripe fruits, caramel and chocolate notes. Ends sweet with warming alcohol.

750ml bottle. pours flat, ruby w/ no head. aroma of brown sugar and dark candy sugar with a nice touch of tangerine. flavors of brown sugar and plums. sweet malty and touch of fruit. pretty nice but a little carbonation could help this out a lot.

Sampled by bottle at West Lake View Tasting. Pours a clear red brown with a small off white head. Lots of malts in the nose. Caramelized, toffee, and toasted malts that are slightly sweet. Sweet malt flavors. Caramels, brown sugar, citrus and red fruit that finish with a charred sweet hop finish. Decent beer.
