Pours all over the place! :o)
Very dark brown with some grainy quality to the liquid. Big, frothy, beige head that soon disappears. Aroma has lots of molasses, coffee, chocolate, oak, prunes, grapes, blackberries and red wine. Medium carbonation, lightly prickly with a good creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of lovely dark chocolate, light oaky tartness, some coffee, viniousness and lightly warming. Some nuts and Nutella in the finish. Nice, but not near the exceptional Cuvée 1. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 8, 2009 Bottle 75cl. Unclear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, acidic coffee, dusty, prunes, vinours, red wine acidic, licorice acidic. Flavor is heavy sweet, light to moderate acidic and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. A bit unbalanced IMO. [20090320] Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands May 25, 2009 Draught at brewerypub. A black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma is fruity, green appels with orange and citrus. Some notes of malts. The taste is sweet with bitter and it moves over to oak with fruits and malts. The aftertaste has some sweets with bitterness. austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland May 22, 2009 75cl. bottle nro #108. Near black, foamy dark beige head. Roasty nose, sourish smooth liqurice, stomach acids if nicely put, faint oak and smoke. Flavor is sourish maltiness, licorice, little vinous notes and raisiny fruitiness. Medium to full bodied, heavily carbonated palate. Strange and funky Impy of some sort, first version was more vinous. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 8, 2009 Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Bottle # 042. Pours black and opaque with a vague reddish hue and a light brown head. Sweetish aroma of hard roasted malt and chewing tobacco. Quite full-bodied and salty with a heavy carbonation, hard roasted malts and a distinct underlying acidity. Strangely inharmonious - unfortunately. 200309 oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Apr 12, 2009 Bottled. Quite much black colour with mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is alcohol, acidic fruits, coffee and some chocolate. Flavour is coffee, some sour fruits, chocolate, licorice and mild notes of alcohol. This was a bit "empty" still, maybe needs some aging. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Apr 9, 2009 Bottled (Bottled 30.10.2008, bottle #108).
Dark opaque brown, not much head (some beige head). Dark roated malts, tobacco ash and cold coffee. Flavor ... thin body, a bit fizzy, dark malts, tobacco ash, color malts. Lacks depth, yeast, sweetness and so. Cuvee 1 is very much better. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Apr 6, 2009 Bottle@Home. There’s so much going on in this one. In both aroma and flavour. It kind of confused me. It’s bitter, it’s sweet, it’s sour and even a little salty. All kinds of flavours from different kinds of fruit to chocolate and roasted coffee beans. For me this was over the edge.
