Cask from wooden barrel called "NO. 1" at Beer festival in copenhagen 08. Pours a deep brown with no head but a hazy surface. The nose is light and bare traces of wood, redwines, liquorice root, cloves and hot cherry-souce. The palate is very smooth and round but the alcohol still hits your tounge. Its very vinoes and and I taste laquorice, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and burned figs. The finish is looong and filed with complexity. nice one.

Cask, EBF, Copenhagen. Black beer, no head to speak of. I found this a bit too much, there was not much beyond oak and sugar on my tongue.

Big wooden cask@EBF2008. Black colour, not much head. Aroma is alcohol, dark dry fruits, some yeast and plum. Flavour is licorice, alcohol, some chocolate, raisins, caramel and also a mild note of coffee lurking. Very wellbalanced and pleasant to drink.

Tap at EBF: Pitch black with a creamy brown head. Nose is sweet matured malty & oaky. Sticky, full & soft body. Roasted bitter coffee. Some chocolate, dark fruits & vanilla. Super complex & a interesting & somehow different oak combination.

Bottle from de Molen Brewery. Dark brown colored brew. Aroma of dark fruity, raisins, wine-like aroma. Flavor is wine-like too, a lot of sweetness, some chocolate and some bitterness. I’m curious of what age can do to this brew. Re-rate 1 year old version: Very nice black colored, intense. Aroma has got hints of dark fruits with oak, also the bordeaux. Flavor is at first chocolate, bourbon and bitterness. Bitterness ffades away and becomes more sour towards a oaky vinous flavour. Smooth palate. Aging is going well. Lovely beer!
