Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head that settles to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of dark fruits, spices, and caramel malts. The flavor is straight forward as well with the dark fruits, sweet caramel, spices, and a woody taste also. A medium bodied mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation. Nothing too complex here, but it is pretty decent.

[tap at EBF 2008] Weak hoppy aroma with white cranberry and peach notes. Murky reddish brown with a nice lacy head. Peaty and musty flavour with grain and spicy melanoidins. Some bitter walnut and notes of raisin, white grape, and chocolate. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a very slightly clean finish.

Tap @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.
Pours red-brown with a thin head that only stays for a second. Aroma is pleasantly malty, light caramel, yeast and a fine, light hoppy streak. Low carbonation, okay mouthfeel. Flavour is somewhat dry, weakly vinious with some caramel notes. Pretty dry finish with okay hoppiness. Not spectacular.

@ Vero Tasting. Slightly cloudy chestnut with a thin light tan head. Slight peppery aroma, some apricot, grains in the back. Wet grain taste, caramel, mild sour twinge on the finish. Decent.

Hazy reddish-brown. Chocolate, nuts, toast and some brown sugar on the nose. Smooth, molassesy palate. Light orange and lime. Complex, interesting brew.

At Vero. Cloudy, mahogany brown. Sweet aroma like chickoo or mamey. Smooth, soft carbonation. Clean, smooth, woody. Interesting flavors. Lots of dark tropical fruits and roasting wood. Well-structured, firm, no-nonsense Dutch solidity.
