| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Bottle. An absolutely impenetrable opaque black beer with almost no head. The aroma is malty, with heavy cognac-like notes and oak. There are also smoke, roasted grains, coffee, alcohol and a minnor note of chocolate. The flavour is heavily sweet, with virtually no acidity and bitterness. Intense, powerful, no doubt about it, but less drinkable and more syrupy than the regular version. Almost full body, soft carbonation, long finish with light to medium bitterness. I still prefer the normal version, but a good beer.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Bottle: Pours an oily opaque black with a thin ring of off-white bubbles. Has a sweet dark caramel and smoky malty nose with lots of fresh oaky notes and a light fruity cognac nose. Starts with a rich dark caramel and dark chocolate sweetness with nice raisin and brown sugar complexity along with an assertive oaky balance before a drier, bittersweet finish with some lingering mocha. An enjoyable oaky imperial stout. Enjoyit (1712), Vadum, Denmark

The appearance is however wonderful black with brown head. The flavor is of coffee, vanilla, toffee and oak. After the bad aroma this beer surprises me with an amazing taste. Overall a splendid beer. Ends on a roasty bitterness with loads of chocolate and a nice alcohol warmth on lips and palate. andersand (359), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Dark dark dark brown with a small brown head that dissapears quickly. Aroma is very "brown malty", somewhat artifical with notes of fine spirits and coffe. Flavour is about the same but more pleasant, fat and roasted. Still has a artifical note going on, probably because of the oak chips since I cant find it in the regular version of "H&D". Still rather tasty when carbonated (some bottles took awhile to get going it seems.)
