Bottle, 8.6%. Fat vinous aroma, brown sugar. Almost black colour, small tight light brown head. The flavour is nicely roasted, vinous fruitiness, very flavourful. A little roasted bitterness, but by no means unpleasant. Creamy mouthfeel. Very nice.

Bottled. Very dark brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, caramel some alchoholic sweetness as well as licorice. Flavour is very much roasted malts, sour coffee, some licorice. Aftertaste is smoked wood, licorice and some coffeeish notes. Very wellbalanced and nice. Some slight alcoholic sweetness as it warms up.

Courtesy of bierkoning, thanks Edo! Dark brown, almost opaque color, steady creamy tan head, lots of lace. Strong licorice, roasted malty aroma. Full-bodied. Greasy coffee beans, dark chocolate, muscovado sugar. Aftertaste is short and it it is more sweet than roasted. De Molen is a quality brewery.

Odd mix of a Belgian Sweet Stout and an Imperial Stout, but I loved this beer! Pear, licorice and milk chocolate in the aroma. Malty flavor, very sweet. Pear. Full bodied, almost thick. Dark chocolate. Creamy and velvety mouthfeel. Long roastbitter aftertaste. There is some complexity challenging the sweetness.

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila!]
Pours a very dark ruby-red. It is only possible to see the red when looking directly towards a lightsource. On top sits a healthy head that initially (on pouring) seemed fizzy, but is now a slowly degrading creamy mass with bigger bubbles nearer the liquid. Rich chocolate aroma, some vanilla, apples and roasted malts in there as well. Great mouthfeel, low carbonation. Flavour is sweet, lightly vinious, the chocolate again dominates. Amid this, there is slight hints of oak, vanilla, coffee. I would say that the initial flavours are just a touch too sweet. But the aftertaste is great, leaving a lasting impression of bitterness and roasted chocolate. For a very long time. The alcohol never burns either, it just warms gently. A good brew, but like the Borefts Stout, a bit on the sweet side.

Bottle, from trade with jbrus. A clear, ruby-brown beer with a finger-thick beige head. Dried fruits, some roasted malts, a little licorice and alcohol, and some maltyness in the aroma. Maybe a bit weak, but very good. Sweet flavor with dried fruits, licorice, some roasted malts and coffee. The long-lasting finish is much the same. Some bitterness, but roasted bitterness, not much hoppy bitterness to brag about. Full-bodied and slightly warming. A lovely beer, warm and tasteful. (090501)

Bottled. For a Imperial Stout it’s too sweet indeed and certainly too much Belgian style as well. But as a beer on it’s own it’s great. Fruity aroma with blackcurrant and some coffee. Ruby color, light brown fine looking head, good lace. Quite sweet, strong flavors, blackcurrant of course, coffee, licorice, roasted bitterness. Full and alcoholic. Complex but well balanced.
