Commercial Description:
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.

Bottle@Home. Aroma of coffee, black berries, tobacco and peat. Black colour, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, very bitter, black berries, coffee, loads of roasted malts, peat, tobacco. Full and surprisingly sparkling.. Powerful, flavourful and not over the edge with the smoke.

A nose of tobacco, whiskey, smoked sausage, leather and vanilla. Taste is of leather, vanilla, smoke and fertilizer. An interesting but very extreme brew. It’s very unique, but the mix of leathery smoke and sweetness doesn’t really do it do me.

Aroma of leather, tobacco, smoke, coffee and vanilla. Appearance is black with small brown head. Taste is very odd with hints of leather, vanilla and smoke. Overall very strange and interesting beer that’s very hard to place but it’s shore is tasty.

It’s black with a nougat colored, creamy head and a oily mouthfeel. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, ashes, peat, tar, light whisky, light smoke and licorice. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of whisky, peat, roasted malt, light smoke, tar, licorice, warming alcohol and a roasted bitterness. It’s powerful and nice.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a dark beige head. Smooth, dark roasted aroma. Very nice. Soft flavour. Roasted with dark fruits and slight notes of alcohol. Full-bodied. Bitter, grainy alcohol (yet smooth) finish with a slight bitterness in the background and lingering smoked notes. Smooth palate. A great beer. 27-11-09.

Black of color with a nice off white head. An aroma of brown coal, roasted, hops, dark chocolate and coffee. A oily flavor with coffee, bitter, old liqurice and weak liqurice.

33cl #591. Black, tiny fading tanned head. Nose is salted ham, little smokiness, licorice, ashiness, not very sweet. Flavor is sweet salmiak, minty herbal notes, burned malts & loads of molasses, some islay smoke, salt, slightly thin and very coarse finish with coal and wood chips. Alcohol shows when warmer. Not too thick mouthfeel. Tastes like a messy De Molen.
