Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout – 10,2% vol. Twice the amount of dark roasted malts used, massive Imperial stout. This is a mad one. Black brown colour with a thick and creamy tan head that can be added to as you wish if you give the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time to breathe and blossom into something truly stunning. Chocolate and alcohol are right there at the front but do not at all overpower the gorgeousness that is underneath. Full of leather, vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully floral character from the hops, thick Belgian chocolate, much character. The flavour of crazy wooden tartness. An extremely bitter finish seems to come out of nowhere and is what really makes this quite unique. Superb width in the mouth and coats the whole palate beautifully.

Draught @ Ølfestival Valby - CBF09, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Unclear dark dark brown color with virtually none head, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, moderate hoppy, wood tart notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, and a peppery - alcoholic finish. Body is medium, texture is oily - sticky, carbonation is flat flat. [20090516]

Thick dark-greige head, disappearing over deep brown beer. Black chocolate with coffee dregs; café glacé cookies and old walnuts. Burnt, overroastded grains, torched coffeebeans; deep & long bitter finish. Bit of typical roasted barley sourness. Thick, viscous, as slobbering crude oil. A bit over the top, if I may say so - probably because it is rather unidimensional. Or too young.

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. A muddy brown beer without carbonation, and just some beige bubbles on top. It doesn’t look too good, but the rest of it is beyond decent. Roasted, burnt, more or less charcoal-like nose with alcohol, coffee and dark chocolate. There’s a sugary start on the flavor, with charcoal, coffee, alcohol and some chocolate blending in. Lasting finish with bitterness, roasted malts and some burnt notes. Flat, warming and full-bodied. Yet another well-tasting imperial stout from de Molen. (090516)

Bottle poured at JW77’s. Dark brown pour, small tan head. Chocolate, vanilla, roast, strong espresso and some light floral hops on the nose. Flavor is roasty with a good dose of coffee and chocolate. Quite bitter. Quite good.

As Heaven & Hell from Bierkoning. #349/816. Dark brown black body with razor thin white head. Sweet and malty nose. Taste of chocolate, malt and caramel. Very oily and smooth. A real delight. More ABV in the finish, but barely detectable. Warming finish. Another triumph from De Molen.

Draught@Københavnske Øldage 2009. Dark brown to near black. Virtually no head. Cocoa and dark malt aroma, nice and clean. Faint vanilla and wood. Strong malt body. Sweet, roasted, woody. Coffee and choco notes. An appropriate earthy bitterness in the backbone. Creamy texture. Medium to full body. Roastedness and lingering bitterness in the finish.

On tap. Pours a muddy dark brown - close to black - with absolutely no head. Intensely burned coffee aroma. Quite full-bodied, hard roasted malt with distinct coffee notes. Very bitter finish from both malts and hops. 160509

Bottle version at CBF 09. Dark brown with a rustic tint. Likeable aroma of sweet, dark malts with dark fruits breaking through. Rich blended flavour of coffee, chocolate and cocoa. Long tail of bitter dark fruits. Warming alcohol. Strong and very pleasing (16.05.2009).
