Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout – 10,2% vol. Twice the amount of dark roasted malts used, massive Imperial stout. This is a mad one. Black brown colour with a thick and creamy tan head that can be added to as you wish if you give the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time to breathe and blossom into something truly stunning. Chocolate and alcohol are right there at the front but do not at all overpower the gorgeousness that is underneath. Full of leather, vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully floral character from the hops, thick Belgian chocolate, much character. The flavour of crazy wooden tartness. An extremely bitter finish seems to come out of nowhere and is what really makes this quite unique. Superb width in the mouth and coats the whole palate beautifully.

On tap. Pours a muddy dark brown - close to black - with absolutely no head. Intensely burned coffee aroma. Quite full-bodied, hard roasted malt with distinct coffee notes. Very bitter finish from both malts and hops. 160509

Draught @ Ølfestival Valby - CBF09, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Unclear dark dark brown color with virtually none head, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, moderate hoppy, wood tart notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, and a peppery - alcoholic finish. Body is medium, texture is oily - sticky, carbonation is flat flat. [20090516]

Draught at KØ09. Black colour, seems a little muddy. The flavour is roasted with a little grain bitter. A little sweetness, hint of yeast. Faint smoke note in the finish rounding off the beer.

Bottled (from Cracked Kettled). Quite much black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, chocolate, vanilla and big time burnt wood. Flavour is quite the same, big coffee, ashes, liquorice and some rather big time alcohol as well. Nicely balanced, but a bit too strong alcoholic

Bottled (bottled 05/2009, bottle #050)
Pitch black color, small brown head. Roasted, vanilla ice cream aroma. Milk, milk chocolate, roasted coffeish flavor. Aftertaste is roasted with some sweetness. Silky mouthfeel. Good but not really complex.
