Commercial Description:
The beer is to be produced in 350L every year. Oak chips have been put in 40 year old cognac and then added to the beer.

Special brew made for Jens Ungstrups 40 year old birthday. Name is still provisional, other options were: Fourty, Fat and Finished (suggested by "friends" of Jens) - Fourty, Fit and Firery (Jens’ own version).

Entered to celebrate my 12,500th rating. Huge thanks for this beer goes to Menno, I was overwhelmed by having three bottles of this for my birthday and getting to name it - also thanks to the middle man (yespr) for bringing these beers home from Belgium.

A hazy deep red beer with no head. The aroma is quite complex with notes of alcohol, wood, Cognag, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of alcohol combined with medium notes of over ripe fruits, wood, and Cognag. The body is powerful and the mouthfeel very smooth. Great beer, and I believe it is going to get better with age.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a slightly hazy amber golden with basically no head. Sweetish and somewhat unclean caramel aroma. Very full-bodied, hardly any carbonation, very sugary caramel with a somewhat unclean and not overly pleasant rubbery edge. Hardly any bitterness. 010509

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup and Menno. Pours hazy deep orange with no head. Sweet and dense caramel malty aroma and alcohol presence. Sweet and dense caramel malty flavoured initially. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel and flavour with a nice smooth sweetness and dense malty base flavour leading into the finish. Slowly increasing warmth into the finish. Lasting sweet and fruity to malty flavoured into far finish. Lovely stuff.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Sveavägen, Stockholm. Murky amber, more or less no head. Woody caramel aroma. Sweet and soft, totally full bodied. Spun sugar and caramel together with woody cognac. The softness lifts the beer to it’s full potential. Alcohol is evident, but works as a dimension adding flavour enhancer. A vinous wonderful sipper with peppery bitterness that keeps growing. As it warms dimension after dimension appears. Cheers Jens!

Bottle 75cl.
Clear medium dark red brown color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, fruity - berry, apricot, wood, portwine, alcohol, overriped fruit - berry. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. Nice work Menno but i think some more aged will be good for this beer. [20090306]

Bottle at Alvinne pre-ZBF09. Good apricot, dried fruit aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Good vanilla flavour. probably from the oak chips. Very fruity and sweet, but balanced by a solid amount of alcohol. Syrupy mouthfeel, but that works well with the low carbonation and the high alcohol content.

Bottle at Ølbaren, thanks to Jens for sharing. Hazy orange redd coloured with a small (almost no) head. Sweet and vinous aroma of caramel, dried fruits, sherry, oak and vanilla. Sweet and vinous flavour of oak, vanilla, sherry and dried fruits with notes of alcohhol. Warming finish of alcohol and dried fruits.
