2009-11-27. Very dark brown body, foamy tan head and lace. Aroma of alcohol up front, dry roasty malt behind it, aroma is a tad muted overall. 7+ Flavour is similar, modest alcohol up front, modest roast, sweeter dark malt core, finishes dry. 7+ Pleasant. Medium bodied palate. Does not scream ’stout’ to me as it is not particularly roasty, but it is rater enjoyable. Bottle #74, May 2008 Vintage, shared by Blankboy.

[2600-20091127] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Shoe polish and chlorine hints in the aroma with a general mild roast. Murky, dark brown body with a quick creamy off-white head. Roasty malt has some more of that shoe polish characteristic in the flavour. Medium-full body. Good.

Pours brown with plenty of light and a two finger creamy tan head. Not what I expect appearance wise. Nose is interesting, nutty, sweet, some grain, chocolate, mild smoke, caramel. Flavor is sweet, fruity, mild alcohol, tad nutty, hoppy, mildly astringent, chocolate. Tastes and smells similar to a brown, very yeasty and estery. Palate is a little warm with some astringency. Different for an Impy.

330ml bottle from Cracked Kettle. Brewed 16 Apr 2009. Bottle #433/912. Pours deep blacvk with no head at all. Palate is dead flat, no carbonation at all. Nose is very rich sweet liquorice and alcohol. Some hops also. A bit woody and roasty. Palate is creamy and oily. Taste is sweet, cocoa and bit roasty on the finish. Very sweet. A bit bitter on the finish. Not very pleasant to drink without carbonation. Feels a bit too rich and thick. Same thing happened to my Hel & Verdoemenis. Really disappointing.
