750. Btl 499. Brewed 12/07. Thanks, Hogfodder! Awesome stuff for sure. Pours black with a thick, creamy, dense tan head. Big nose of chocolate, liquorice, and caramel. Roasty as well. Thick, creamy, medium body. All the liquorice, caramel, and chocolate return for the mid-palate. Still quite young yet without a doubt, but delicious nevertheless. For the abv, it’s quite unassuming, and it’s easy to imagine either drinking this all day or laying it down for decades. Wonderful stuff.
Marsiblursi (1404), Göteborg, Sweden
Sep 5, 2008 (Bottle) Pours dark brown with a light yellowish brown head. The aroma is medium fruity and light spicy with tones of black berries, blueberries, applesauce, white pepper, vanilla, mint and anise/liquorice. There are also some light roasted malt and hops in the background with notes of dark caramel, brown sugar, milk chocolate, nuts, cookies, forest, grass and herbs. Just a whisper of almond paste. The flavour starts quite sweet with some roasted malt, blackberries and liquorice. Continues with a grassy/light herbal hop bitterness. Dry finish. Ester-ish fruity and light spicy. The mouthfeel is velvety soft and smooth with a medium carbonation. The aftertaste brings notes of lingering resiny and grassy hop bitterness alongside some light roast. Medium bodied. A very fruity IMP.

Sep 4, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Crushinat0r, found at Julio’s. Aroma of roast primarily, and malt. Black with big bubbly white head. Significant lace. A good above-average mouthfeel. Nice drinkability. This beer is a good product for the style, but it does have lots of competition these days

Aug 26, 2008 Bottle: The aroma is very fruity with cherry and plum. The aroma also has some notes of chocolate and faint roast. Pours a "dark" brown with some orange highlights, lots of sediment, and a large soapy beige head that leaves behind some clumpy lacing. It’s a nice looking beer, but the one category I do rate for style is appearance, and this does not look like an Imperial Stout. The flavor is very fruity with plum and cherry. Moderate chocolate in the middle. There is some light-moderate roastiness along with some light citrus hoppiness. Absolutely no sign of 10.7% alcohol. Seems more like a Baltic Porter than Imperial Stout. Medium bodied with a soft creamy mouthfeel.

Aug 25, 2008 750 bottle that after4ever bought for us to share at the Uber Tavern in Seattle, Washington. Bottle #403. Pour is black with ruby highlights with no head to speak of. Aroma of sweet prunes, raisins and roasted coffee. Some grassy tobacco in there as well. Taste is the fruit sweetness and acidic tartness of the raisins. On top of those flavors is a sharp milk sour taste. The roasted coffee flavor exists throughout and is nicely balanced with the other flavors. Only minor present alcohol.

Aug 20, 2008 Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Black - light brown head. Coffee, dryness, lactose, tobacco, plastic, yeasty, vegetables, berries, licorice, dark bread. I gets better 30 minutes after pouring..... but it still have this strange plastic and yeast taste.
