| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2009 Dark brown almost black pour with small tan head and lace. A burnt coffee aroma followed by medium chocolate and abv. Abv, chocoffee, and a good finishing bitter on the flavor. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Had this beer tasted as good as it smelled it would have been over the top. Still damn fine. mreusch (737), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2009 33cl bottle #29, brewed 06Oct07, bottled 01Nov07, with a big thanks to ygtbsm94! Pours a dark brown with a loose covering of larger tan bubbles. Aroma is chocolate, espresso, tobacco, citrus, pine, smoke and ripe dark fruits. Flavor is citrus and piney hops, more espresso, chocolate, dark fruits and light tobacco and smoke, with a lingering earthy finish. I was surprised with how much this changed as it opened up, definitely needs a little time to warm up. Very nice stuff and glad for the chance to try, thanks again Brad! Butters (1652), Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Bottle, May 2008. Rich malty aroma. Some soy sauce notes. Lots of chocolate in the flavour. Also bitter licorice with some hop bite. Not too sweet. Alcohol is quite warming, perhaps on the hot side but that doesn’t detract too much. Although I usually prefer fresh beers, I think a little more bottle age would have brought it more into tune with my palate.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Deep brown color with no head. Light boozy aroma with black licorice and tobacco. Medium body with a flat mouthfeel. Good flavor of dry blackened malts with sweet pit fruits and tobacco. Lack of carbonation really hurts here.
