Bottle. Pours an amber color, hazy, with a minimal head that is frothy and white. Lacing is moderate. Aromas of raisin, port, banana, and hints of spice. Creamy start, moderate lively mouthfeel, and slick finish for the palate. Flavors of raisin, wine, banana, and malt. Good but not great.

750 Ml Bottle-Dark cola like pour w/a slight tan foamy head. Decent dark Belgian aroma & pour, but it went downhill quickly from there. Sickly sweet, funky, beer gone bad flavor of candied sugar, bad figs/dates, & sour grapes. Had a medicinal flavor to it, reminded me of cough syrup! Sometimes when you guy a beer you’ve never heard of in a place you’ve never been you get a pleasant surprise...this wasn’t one of those times! This was drainpour!!

Color and head look a lot like Coca-Cola. Aroma is very overly sweet and off-putting. Some spoilt funk in there, too. Flavor is not nearly as sickly-sweet or funky as the aroma, but still isn’t very good. Not much body or depth. Why does this Belgian beer not have many ratings from Europe? Fishy, fake Chimay sort of stuff. Luckily, my wife liked it better than I did, saving it from being a drain-pour.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly fruity ester with some sweet Belgian malt. Taste is also dominated by some lightly sweet Belgian malt with some subtle fruity ester. Body is about average with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not sweet enough for the style with body too watery and lacking character makes this a quite boring beer.

In short: An overly sweet Belgian golden ale with a weird fruity and floral character. Annoyingly different.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh one month after purchase.
The look: Clear dark golden topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose and the taste have a weird floral and fruity character. A mix of redcurrant, thyme, rosewood, ripe apples, fresh green cannabis (no kidding), biscuits, dried cherries, Life Savers™, a medicinal touch, more… The hops here (or what appear to be hops) add a strong floral medicinal flavour, do not dry out the beer at all and provide little to no bitterness. Way too sweet with candy sugar very apparent, a light weird sourness and a light acidic touch. Really a hard one to describe. And overall it is totally “off”. Somewhat reminded me of sweetened Vapeur Cochonne and that’s not a compliment. De Proef can be sucky or excellent. De Proef have more hits and misses than a angry blind dude on crack with a machine-gunner at a Republican convention. A recurrent dream of mine.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy amber body with a small very fizzy beige head that faded pretty quickly. A good deal of visible carbonation. The nose is mostly caramel malt mixed with a bit of oxidation and a little dark fruitiness. Some brown sugar like sweetness as well. The flavor is sweeter than expected, and a bit on the boring side with just some nondescript ale fruitiness and a bit of yeast character. Some brown sugar and dark caramel linger on in the finish with that slight bit of oxidation. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little clingy, with fizzy effervescent carbonation. Overall, this one just didn’t do it for me. Maybe this was a slightly more aged bottle than I thought.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of light bread and caramel, light orange and dough for the hops and yeast, with date, cherry and brown sugar in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is hazy red/brown with a thin amount of small particles. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, acidic and bitter. Palae is medium, watery with a little slickness and has a lively to fizzy carbonation. A nice well rounded Belgian Ale.
