Tastes like it smells yeasty, hay up front, and then a the yeast’s bitter after taste and the hops kick in to give an citrus/asprin after taste. Not for the weak hearted, but a nice beer! a true wild ale! Rustyham (585), miami, Florida, USA

( Surly Bird ) Pours a golden color with zero head. Aroma of wild yeast, bread, cider and lemons. Taste of hay, asprin, citrus and barn funk. Mouthfeel is thin in body, smooth, yet kind of awkward in the finish. Overall, pretty interesting. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Bottle shared by BA’s Woody Chandler. Surly Bird version. Poured clear gold with no head. The nose was apple, pear, oak, and light funk. The taste had notes of apple, aspirin, horse blanket (funk), and melon rind. Quite interesting and very different from most other wild ales that I have had. I would be interested in comparing all six versions against each other. caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Updated: Sep 12, 2009The bottle I got reads Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale. I agree, this is one wild ale. Pours orange-gold as reviewer below me states with lots of sediment floating around. A nice creamy head that never fully disappears.
This beer is complex and tastes great. I get spicy citrus mixed with earthy tones. Starts creamy ends slightly hoppy. Surprisingly very drinkable given it’s 9% ABV.
The only thing I can’t seem to put my finger on is the aroma. There is so much going on I can’t fully grasp anything and it kind of comes off as very musty. The only thing I can smell is a bit of banana. My nose is also clogged from these damn allergies.
I would say this one is a winner. Will purchase again. Wish I had bought more than one. Also intriguing how it changes labels and names annually. ha

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2009 A fruity flowery strawberry smell lifted up from the peach honey coloured hazy body. Lots of apples, white wine, and grapes on the tongue. Slight carbonation. Was actually slightly dissapointed in this because I was expecting something a bit more yeasty and herbal and flowery...something a bit more wild. However, it was a pleasant beer.
