Last beer from rather large tasting with Sammy and the Boys. good amount of white foam nose to me was basically of hay soaked in cow urine, i know this because i grew up in a farming comunity. was a decent beer though, dont just judge by the aroma boys and girls!!! Anyways luckily it tasted much different, bitter with definate barnyard notes, some good malt in there, dry finish alcohol is not as noticable as i expected. Thanx Sammy for bringing one i never would have probably tried.

Flemish Primitive #5 Demon Fish, thanks to SOLAN! Funk, candied green apple skins, a little sweet a little sour in the aroma. Pours golden blonde. Tart brett right away, hoppy, almost alittle catty, the aftertaste is like stale cereal (capn crunch), but after a few sips it is less cereal-like, it does have a concentrated sweetness. Great upfront, but i’m not so into the aftertaste, which reminds me of an old british ale thats past its prime.

Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale

9/25/2007: Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale is golden orange in color with some sediment in it. The head is foamy, large, and off-white in color. The aroma is acidic, but some malty and carmelized sugar still comes through. The flavor is slightly sour and has a distint green apple quality to it. It is quite tart and puckering at times, but very refreshing and difficult to stop drinking! There is also a slight bit of oxidation present. Averall this is a very satisfying sour ale that actually smells more sour than it tastes.

750 mL corked and caged bottle (9% alc./vol.) from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #302 for this beer...

Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a small, unassuming white head. Smell: Gah! Extremely funky doesn’t even begin to describe it. It’s like a huge hunk of Stilton wrapped in a horse blanket and smothered in rotten, zombified fruit husks and topped with a drizzle of high-quality honey. Taste: Light breadiness with a large amount of melted blue cheese, who’s flavor grows more and more as time goes on. Sharp, funky flavor like chowing down on a pair of swimming trunks forgotten in a car trunk for a couple weeks in the middle of summer, and though I’d never imagine myself saying this about a beer, here goes: it’s painfully cheesy. Vague fruitiness, like molded melon rinds. There’s a drying bitterness throughout, particularly on the spicy, sour finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: These De Proef Flemish Primitive beers really put you to work, don’t they?
