Taverner (441), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 14, 2008 Like a slightly sour ESB. It has a bitter flavor, the bretts, very dry and aromatic. Had this as Reinaert Flemish Wild. Poured golden with almost no head. The smell of farmhouse filled the vessel. First note was very short and dry. Sometime after this has dissipated, you get a faint bitter aftertaste lingering at the back of your throat.
fonefan (4468), Ulfborg, Denmark Sep 6, 2008 Bottle 75cl. @ home. [ As Vlaamse Primitief Wild Ale ] Clear medium orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, light hoppy, moderate yeasty, horse blanket - leather notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet, light light acidic and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (290608) rustychiles (438), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a cloudy orangeish yellowish brown murky color with an active white head. Aroma of funk, yeast, sourness, cidery apple. Flavor is funky, slightly sour, fruits, spices, very active carbonation. Decent brew, but not quite up there with the big boys. milewide (487), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2008 Updated: Aug 22, 2008Funky, sour yeast taste up front followed by excellent hop bitterness. On close-out for $15/6 750 ml bottles. Solid body, and cloudy blond color. Case is stamped "72", whatever that means. WISEGUY572 (1103), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2008 Cloudy organge, good head, moderate lacing. Nose of yeast, grass, apples, and slight funk. Taste is sweet and citrus at the same time. I think mine must have been one of the later editions, because it was most definitely well hopped. It was described as "number 5" which probably means demon fish. hophead75 (1668), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2008 Hazy orange in color with a medium off white head that dissipates, some floaters. Aroma: caramel, funk, some sour fruit- apples and light citrus. Taste is moderately funky with barnyard, a touch of sweaty socks and cheese, a decent amount of caramel sweetness, and a lightly hoppy bitter finish.
