PorterPounder (2851), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2005 Marcello’s Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La - 750 ml bottle. Pours a bright golden with a frothy and sticky white head that leaves generous lacing. Grassy, yeasty aroma with a faint touch of alcohol. Flavor is slightly bready, with some cake mix accents with an underlying lemony taste. Very "heavy" tasting for a tripel. Alcohol is evident, but not distracting. Decent.
ucusty (1201), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours a very hazy orange color with a nice compact head and very artistic lace. The aroma is yeasty, Coriander, and malty. The flavor is Coriander, white pepper, sour fruit, quite yeasty, and vanilla. The palate is rich, but also very cleansing. swoopjones (1173), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a orangish golden color. Aroma is fruity, sweet malts, slightly yeasty. Taste is sweet, malty fruity, slight peppery spice. Nice fuller mouthfeel. Pretty good JCB (1058), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 16, 2008 750ml from A Southern Season, Chapel Hill. I actually felt this one was more like a strong golden than a tripel. There are certainly some of the sweet, malty characteristics of a tripel - a rich honied flavor along with some piquant fruits - but there’s enough hop presence and enough of a dry finish that it straddles categories. Either way, another enjoyable brew from De Proef. eboats (834), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottled. Pours a deep vibrant orange with small sediment pieces floating around and a white head. Aroma is a light sour apricot with other light fruit aromas mixed in. Flavor is light butteriness, with sweet fruits, and a somewhat syrupy feel to it. Reminds of a JW Lee BW with its sweetness. Smooth and creamy perhaps even silky mouth feel. The body is well malted with a syrupy feel. swanmann (254), Norman, Oklahoma, USA May 10, 2008 The bottle poured slightly hazy, bright honey color with 3 fingers of dense egg shell colored foam, somewhat sustained. It smells fruity, like apricot. The flavor is sweet with an anesthetic quality, almost peppery, with sourdough bready notes.
