Commercial Description:
A strong blonde ale of about 8.5% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an “abbey” beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Ranke’s XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.

Top.

Pours a slightly hazy orange/gold color with a small little white head. Smells of some citrus fruit, definite hops, but with a strong malt backbone. The taste is more fruity then anything, but with a little spiciness that gave it some character. Nothing overly exciting about this brew, but nothing wrong with it either. fruity little finish to it, that ends with some bitter spices. Not bad.

Fuzzy golden color with a a bushy white head. Hoppy, sour notes and flavor. Hints of orange and peach. Like a Sour Patch Kid. Finished with a prevalent hoppy presence.

Soft initial taste and velvety texture. However there was not much flavour. Drink this one warm or all of it will be lost.

draft... Very floral aroma, hops, with a nice sweetness that i can’t really identify. Pours golden orange with a thick white head. Very nice and refreshing beer, very floral with a good sharp bitterness, with a balancing sweetness. The aftertaste reminds me of that classic Fantome aftertaste, maybe its the floral flavor that is similar. What a great beer!

Bottle, courtesy of ArcaneApollo (thanks, man). Pours a cloudy golden amber with a quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is largely yeast with slight vanilla and lemon notes detected. Taste is very light up front, with heavy malt and alcohol characteristics coming in toward the end. I detected some slight citrus on the end, with detectable alcohol. Not bad.
