Commercial Description:
A strong blonde ale of about 8.5% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an “abbey” beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Ranke’s XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.

Bottle. Golden blond color with a light hazy touch and a small white head. Sweet hoppy aroma, a little peppery touch. Full palate, light bitter finish, dry hoppy near the end.

33cl bottle. murky, dark yellow color. Pours with thick soft creamy head, which laces nicely. Fruity nose, well composed taste and slips easily. perfect

750 ml bottle corked and capped via my Secret Santa! - Thanks! - Pours amber hazed with a fair creamy tan head that stays well and laces in layers. Aromas of musty basement, some pear, and a little cheese. Flavor is fruity with lots of pear and apple also some corriander there too.and maybe some ginger as well. Palate is crisp and pretty clean actually. Light bodied and easy drinking for a belgian strong.. No sign of the alcohol.. Pretty nice beer overall..

Poured a hazy orange with white head. Smell was a soapy hoppy aroma. Tasted started out bitter but ended sweet malt.

Bottle at the Rover in Göteborg with Gnoff. Grape aroma, a bit like in a good lambic. Half-hazy orange colour, no foam. Crisp taste, cherry finish.

aroma is sweet candied sugar and a bit of hops. pours golden with pretty decent head. Flavor is balanced, but harsh and kind of strange... sweet, but and well hoped, but not pleasant. I tried to like this beer, but its just not a great brew. reminds me a lot of duvel. I happen to be drinking one right now... but this beer is much less pleasant with harsh flavors, a peculiar sweetness and hoppiness. not recomended, but its still not the worst thing I’ve had.

Bottle 0,33l. Golden. Some alcohol, some butter, hop and candy aroma’s. Sweet taste, soft carbonation, full body and a finish that’s everlasting harsh/bitter with some sweetness in the end. This beer lacks subtlety. Not as good as some might say...
