Commercial Description:
A strong blonde ale of about 8.5% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an “abbey” beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Ranke’s XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.

nice textured fluffy head, nice bittersweet typical belgian aroma, a little too sweet in the after tast tho. Cloudy amber with trub

A Mes rate: Hoppy and sweet. Rather dark for a blonde or beer of this type. Alcohol is hidden well. Zero lace and the head vanishes almost instantly. Yeasty and with a fair lick of spice and orange, I found this much better on tap than I did from a bottle.

I asked the bartender for a blond tripel with spicy taste. This was what I got. Full yellow color w/ hints toward plae orange with nice foam. Aroma reminded me of Duvel without alcohol and lager beer. Dry, slightly hoppy, a little spicyness, a little belgian bittersourness (tannic?) but all in all, too mild for me, this is the kind of beer you need to siniff realy hard and drink realy slow to appreciate. A disappointment as I was looking for flavour, not an easy way to get drunk. But the little flavour there was I liked pretty much.

Pouring from a 750 ml bottle that was labelled as containing 11.2 ounces, this poured a clear golden body with a tall chunky head that laced the glass with sheets of fizz. The aroma is light floral hops and yeast... not very likeable. The taste, however, is pleasant enough, a sweet, lightly spiced malt with a citric acidity and a nice bitter hopping in the finish. Nothing to write home about.

Sweet fruity, citric aroma. Very yeasy and unpleasant. Cloying and artificial. It was for me to finish my glass. No bitterness at all.

Spicy aroma with some malt underneath. Belgian ales are all beautiful. This one is a cloudy washed out brown with a huge fluffy head. Spicy fore with a bubble gum/sugar mid taste that finishes with a lavender/floral finish. Fun to drink and interesting flavor palate. Thanks to Firemoose for this fine specimen.

Cloudy hazy orange, with foam pouring insistantly from the first half of the bottle. NIce triple with spices and easy full mouthfeel. Wewll hopped. Hammering alcohol. Thank you very much Phyl21ca.

Out of a bottle. Nice aroma floral hop complex and a hint of caramel. Poured an off gold with a white foamy head, lively in the glass. Taste was hoppy and a bit bitter with just a bit of sweetness then back to the bite. Palate was nicely bodied, finish was long tailed. Overall I really liked this as my first from de Ranke would entice me to try more of their stuff.
