Commercial Description:
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Aroma is slightly funky and barn-like, also more than a little sour cherry. Taste is slightly cork, musty tart cherry, and finishes with a nice fruity tang that lingers pretty damn long. This is a very straightforward beer, but it is satisfying.

Bottle, thanks to eyedrinkale. The aroma is of some sour fruit. The flavor is dominated by sour berries and some lemony tartness. Pretty good for the style.

Poured a dark pink color with no head. Intense "barnyard" aromas, light body, pronounced sour character from start to finish. Mellow cherry flavor.

Cherry, leather and hay in the aroma. Cloudy magenta color. Tart cherry flavor with subtle notes of dusty funkiness. An easy drinking sour beer, without becoming a cloyingly sweet alco-pop.

Bottled at a beer festival somewhere? A red colour with a pinkish head. A great balance sweet/sour balance. A really nice Kriek. If you find the true Lambics too sour & the Lindemans too sweet, this my friends is your answer.

Murky dark red body, tall head. Wood, cherry, and funk in the aroma. Taste starts out with a very nice rounded cherry-fruityness, then finishes bone-dry with pleasant acidity. Low CO2. A pleasant surprise.

[588-20070908] 1pt9.4floz @ Sourfest 2007 (Buffalo, NY, w/ rudolf, frylock, IPFreely, jerc, swoopjones). Deep cherry fruit aroma with malty wood alcohol. Cloudy, dark red body with a medium-lasting foamy light pink head. Old musty cherries continues in a particularly sour flavour. Medium-full body has quite a dry finish. Nice sour characteristics.

Pours beautiful red with an off white head. Aroma very strong and a bit off putting. Taste very sour but without the depth of other good Kireks.
