Commercial Description:
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Semplicemente stupenda.

Sampled at Stone’s Sour Festival, July 2007. Dark red brew with just a little bitt of white foam up top. Aroma is like cherry soda. Flavor is very fruity, but very very sour. great smooth tart finish

BCTC - fresh bottle being poured by the Shelton Bros table. Pours a murky red with orange tints. Small head. Aroma is wham! in your face tart sour cherry. So damn sour and so nice. Taste is so acidic (even Cantillon-esque) and full of over soured cherry. Aftertaste is long and sour and did i mention acidic. This was the biggest surprise of the fest for me. It sure tricked me into thinking this is straight Kriek and not a fruit beer.

Horseblanket, leather, cobweb, cherry ash - quite some aroma there. Cloudy red, pink head. Horseblanket and the other notes find themselves in the mouth as well, good sourness. Sparkly mouthfeel. Dry finish.

750 at the Seattle International Beerfest. Huge sour cherry nose. Gorgeous deep pinkish red body, thin pink head of mousse and fizz. Super oxidized nose--tart, sour, sharp, dry. Fizzy sharp strong attack. Ultra ultra funky on the nost and palate. Sticky sour mid-palate and finish. Definitely a celebration of oxidized red fruit and wild yeast funk.

Deep cherry red in colour, light pink coloured head, average retention, very light lacing. The aroma is acidic, very strong cherries, lambic-like, vinegar notes. The flavour is quite tart and acidic, lots of cherries, some balsamic vinegar, woody. Mildly sour mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes medium length, lots of cherry tartness, acidic. More lambic-like then I thought it would be, quite dry, wonderful balance.

750ml bottle from <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPla target=blank>Pizza Plant (Transit) in Williamsville, New York.
Purchached in November 2005.
Opened on January 6, 2007.
