Commercial Description:
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

(03/2006) Someone said this was better than a Hanssens Kriek ... I disagreed, but this, indeed, is a tasty, tasty beer. Deep, hazy red with a spritzy, unlasting, pink head. Big cherry aromas with acidic and woody notes as well. Citric, lemony acidity mixes well with an oaky, deeply cherry taste. Complex play of all of these flavors that changes as the glass warms up. Very spritzy, medium-bodied, and dry on the palate. A fine, drinkable beer.

75 cl bottle, bottled Aug 04. Light cherry coloured with a slight haze and a thin and rapidly disappearing pink head. Sour-sweetish, lightly lactic aroma with some woody notes and fruit stones. Very dry, tart taste with very rich fruit and a nutty-bitterish background/aftertaste. Dryish mouthfeel.

Thanks to Tim! Brownish/orange red. Nose has cherries, funk, some balsamic, oak, lemon. Cherry, good strong malt, oak, sweet tarts. A drier version of what I remember the orig. Rodenbach being.

bottle. hazy red-orange with a ring of white head. the aroma is awesome - big and juicy cherries are obviously the big thing going on here. very gueuze-like wild funkiness. earthy, acidic, dry juicy cherry flavour. very palatable refreshing body. thanks for sharing Kevin.

Thanks for sharing Kevin! Another great treat of the tasting! Red and hazy, cloudy with a nice white ring of head. Sour cherries in the nasal passage, yeast and sweaty candied cherries. Tart, funky sour cherry flavour, mild bitterness. Finish is tart, puckering, and very nice. Thanks again Kev!

Bottled. Poured a rather interesting red color. A very sour aroma came from my glass. This beer is quite sour in taste as well. It was a little to dry for my tastes, overall it was good, I would drink more, but I wouldn’t actively seek this one out.

Bottled. Sour and acidic Kriek. Very natural taste with no unpleasant notes. Clean, subtle and good. Very nice kriek.
