Commercial Description:
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Bottle, 2003 vintage. Nice burgundy color with a fluffy head and no lacing. Tart aroma of yeast and sour cherries. Taste is lightly tart cherries, malt and vinegar. Some other sour apple flavor in there as well. I drank almost the whole bottle myself and felt just fine.

hazy dark reddish colour, almost no residual foam, acidic aroma of cherries and vinegar, slightly acidic, medium-bodied, strong sourness, the finish is very long and dry, deeply sour with pleasant notes of cherry - this is a solid, very beautiful lambic.

Hay/barnyard with cherry stones and citrus. Red with a pink short head. So dry yet so balanced. Great sweet juicy cherry flavour with a tart finish. Full bodied, smooth. How is this not lambic? Its brilliant anyway.

Cloudy, dull raspberry color. Funky brett notes plus a deep ripeness in the nose. Nice cherry fruit quality plus a yeasty character. Clean, dry finish. A solid beer.

Original Rating (8-3-6-3-14=3.4): Cinammon and cherries in the mildly tart aroma. Reddish-brown with white head that diminishes to ring. Mild brett character. Lightly sour cherries with some sweet malt to balance and a restrained tart finish. Fairly subdued. Low carbonation and sticky in the mouth. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, lubiere, MartinT and Rastacouere.
Rerate (8-3-7-3-15=3.6): Dusty cherries and shoe polish in the musty aroma. Opaque burgundy red wine coloured body with low white head that recedes to ring. Shoe polish, cherries, mint and cinnamon in the flavour. Medium-light body with fair carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere for Martin’s ’Bachelor Party’!
