Commercial Description:
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

750ml bottle from west lakeview.... pours a semi-murky dark cherry red with a pretty thin film of quickly dissipating white head... a vibrant soue vinegary nose with an adequate amount of funk and horseblanket.... fairly tart and sour cherry flavor that also displays a fair amount of sweetness in the middle end. medium carbonation and somewhat thin mouthfeel.

750ml bottle, best by Sep 2012. A careful pour yields a clear candy bright red colored body with little to no head. Mild to moderate acetic notes early in the nose, with a starchy and dusty cherry/raspberry note following. Body is medium to thin, surprisingly thin, actually, lacking any definite roundness and fullness that I would expect of the style and of de Ranke. Mild sweetness up front is quickly overcome with a moderately strong lactic sourness, leaving the mouth feeling pricked, starchy, dry and slightly fuzzed. Later pours with some yeast mixed in provide additional fullness but still not enough to satisfy me, and the fruit seemed just a little too sugared and sweet.

Corked and capped 750. Pours hazy red with a pink head. A bit of funk in the nose, along with cherries, lemons, wood. Medium body and carbonation. The taste is lemony sour, and goes along the same lines as the aroma with cherries, lemons, wood, funk with a tart crisp finish. A dandy kriek.

Pours a murky bright grapefruit-juice pink with a fine frothy white head. Wonderful dusty wild yeast and cherry aroma with some funky cheese that cuts the acidity. Mildly tart and acidic, lovely ripe cherries, more of a lambiic than sour ale, however you can tell its not straight lambic. Medium/light bodied with abrasive carbonation. Yummy brew that is actually quite easy to drink.

750 ml bottle @ Maltainen Monni, Helsinki. Clear ruby red color, pinkish head. Notably sour fruity aroma. Appealing sour flavor with cherry/berry notes. Sharp carbonation. A quality kriek indeed.

Pours a bright orange that is just a tad red. Aroma - crisp sour smells of tarty cherries, apples, and pears. First taste is sweet and bitter with cherries, green apples, and grapes dominating the flavor. A very nice mouthfeel compliments this sour well. A good sipper that is on the mild side of sour.

Bottle. Not the sourest kriek i’ve had and not the best but a solid kriek that i can usually find, heck it saved mikkeller black from a complete drain pour. Solid cherry woody puckering kriek.

Muddy red with a low pink head. Acid aroma of lemon, grape cherry and wood. The flavour is very dry and acid -lambic all the way through as far as I can detect. Their is not much sour feel n this one. It’s all about harsh grape and cherry.
