Pours deep mahogany into a trappist glass. Tan micro head with excellent retention pancakes as it recedes to coat surface. Dark plum and fruit cake aromas. Upfront Full cocoa and licorice from front to back. Dusty charred pepper finish.

pours a brown/purple color under a large frothy cream colored head. bouquet of dark fruits(plum) and spices(licorice, anise), and maybe of hint of some toasted or dark malt. big foamy full mouthfeel. highly carbonated. flavors of cocoa powder, plum, spices. reminds me of unibrou’s la terrible but not as robust.

Poured a dark, red amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, citrus, yeast, spices, and toast. Taste of ripe fruit, some cocoa, wood, yeast, and a bit of alcohol in the finish.

Tap at Deep Ellum. I enjoyed this one. Aroma of fruits, yeast and some chocolate. Taste very similar.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Bottle stamped 02 2014. Poured a deeper copperish color with an averaged ized off white head. Hazy and cloudy. Aromas of yeastiness, fruity, toasty, and floral. Tastes of the same fruitiness, chocolate, toasty and roasty. Some lacing left on the glass.

750 from Capones. Pours a deep hazy ruby with a large foamy off white head that left lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruity and spicy Belgian yeast esters, pear, floral and citrus notes, some dark fruits and a some chocolate, light roast and maybe a slight hint of some coffee as the beer airs out. Flavor of spicy and earthy Belgian yeast esters, toasted malt, light cocoa, various fruits, light banana and a hint of some roasted malt.

Lighter brown coloured beer with small white head. Spicy and hoppy aroma. Full palate, slightly sparkling. Finish is spicy roasted ending bitter and dry.
